300 Binney reaches construction milestone

On October 27, Broadies, BXP, and the Ironworkers Local 7 Union gathered for a “topping off ceremony,” recognizing the placement of the last beam on top of 300 Binney. This construction milestone is the latest update on ongoing work to expand Broad’s campus.

Broadies, BXP, and the Ironworkers Local 7 Union gathered on Friday, October 27 to celebrate a “topping off ceremony” for 300 Binney. Topping off ceremonies recognize the placement of the last beam on top of a building, and represent an important construction milestone.

The placement of the last beam is the latest update on ongoing work to convert the existing 300 Binney space into a six-story, 225,000 square-foot LEED Gold certified research facility for several Broad groups to expand into. Currently, parts of the Cancer Program, Metabolomics Platform, Genetic Perturbation Platform (GPP), Flow Cytometry Facility, and Broad Administration are slated to move into the space starting in December 2024.

Meanwhile, construction continues on a new building for the Genomics Platform at 27 Blue Sky Drive in Burlington, MA. The project is on track to open as scheduled in fall 2024.
