The Windows 10 Software Center can be used by Broadies to install software or printers and start upgrades on their own. With Software Center, Broadies can install software from a general list provided to all Broadies and any software requested and made available by BITS. Software Center is only available when using the Broad-Internal wireless network or the Broad VPN.

OS Upgrades

If you are performing an upgrade, close the program you are planning to upgrade and any associated programs.

  1. Click on the Windows logo.
  2. Click on All Programs > Microsoft System Center > Configuration Manager > Software Center
  3. Locate and select the application you with to install/update then click on “Install”. If the application you are looking for is not listed, please review the troubleshooting steps listed below.
  4. You can view the Install progress by clicking the "Installation Status" tab.
  5. Once it completes, please test the program and to report any issues.

Troubleshooting Steps

If you requested an application and it is not showing in Software Center please perform the following steps (please ensure you are on the Broad-Internal network or connected to VPN before proceeding):

  1. Click on the Windows logo, search for "Control Panel", and click Control Panel.
  2. Double-Click on “Configuration Manager”.
  3. Click on the “Actions” tab.
  4. Select “Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle”.
  5. Click on “Run Now”.
  6. Click on “OK” to close the pop-up.
  7. Click on “Ok” to close the “Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle” window.

Wait up to 5 minutes then check “Software Center” for updates.

  • The program must be downloaded before it can run. However the space allocated for program downloads is insufficient to download this program.
    • If you are attempting to run an install an application but have run out of space to pre-load the program, the cache will need to be cleared.
    • You will need to be an administrator to perform this action. Should you not be an admin, please submit a help request.
    • Click on the Windows 7 icon on Windows 7 and then Control Panel.
    • Double-Click on “Configuration Manager”.
    • Click on the “Advanced” tab.
    • Click on the "Configure Settings" button then press "Yes".
    • Click on the "Delete Files" button then click on "Yes".
    • Click on "Ok" and try to install the program again.
